This mod is just a test, what am I testing?
The hosiery is made of one by one elastic translucent fiber woven, and human leg is a quasi-cylinder, this creates a visual phenomenon----The closer you look to the outline, the more the fibers overlap, the more opaque it becomes.
If this is CG, we can do this with Fresnel, but FFXIV doesn't support Fresnel...
So I tried to create a grid that was perpendicular to the surface of the skin, These grids are interlaced vertically and horizontally, since it is perpendicular to the surface of the skin, they overlap near the contours, Just like real fibers.
So if the mesh is not dense enough, it will look rough. Is that why I need so many polygons, and if the game allows it, I'll even double it.
PS: This mod is just a test, there are many limitations in game that make it imperfect (like The total number of polygons in a mod must not exceed 80K),I just recorded a reasonably good process. If you like this effect, it means our brain waves are in sync ; ) .
