Proteus

Proteus is a Dalamud plugin for FFXIV that composites overlay textures onto your character's skin and equipment at runtime. Mod authors ship small PNG overlays alongside their Penumbra mods; Proteus blends them onto the base textures every time you change options, without touching the original mod files.

So, you can make lingerie that goes under all your other mods without taking up a slot. Tattoos that glow. Scales on any race that you can dye.

Bind your overlays to Penumbra mods that can be toggled with Glamourer. Adjust priorities in each of your collections.

Includes a mini "shader" that adds an index texture and colorset to shaders like skin that don't have them. This lets you dye overlays, make them glow and adjust their opacity.

The plugin works on any mod, including any body mod, but overlays are specific to the body, for example. So you'd need a Gen3 tattoo mod for a Gen 3 body.
