Ever install one cute outfit and discover it brought enough oversized textures to fill a small moon?
AetherPress keeps an eye on new Penumbra installs and offers to slim down their textures before they start eating your drive space and VRAM. Pick a Quality, Balanced, Smaller Files, or Maximum Savings preset—or fine-tune everything yourself under Advanced Settings.
The presets have been tested on real FFXIV texture packs to provide more predictable savings without destroying fine details. AetherPress no longer silently lowers textures beyond the size you selected, giving you much better control over the final quality.
Skin-texture protection is still available, and automatic optimization is optional. By default, AetherPress asks before touching anything.
After compression, AetherPress adds the amount of space saved to the bottom of the mod’s description.
AetherPress modifies textures inside the Penumbra mod folder, so keep backups of anything you may want to restore later.
Use /aetherpress to open the settings.

- Removed adaptive scaling that could make textures smaller than expected.
- Added four easy-to-understand quality presets.
- Tested and adjusted the presets using real 4K FFXIV textures instead of estimated settings.
- Improved 2K compression quality and made the results more predictable.
- Kept the option to protect skin textures.
- Simplified the settings window while keeping detailed controls available under Advanced Settings.
