I needed a template for making my own eye mode and compatible with all races/genders but couldn't find anything, and my ADHD brain prefers to spend 5 hours making a tool for future usage than manually clicking stuff in TexTools for 2 hours Λπ·Λ
Want to make your own eye mod? This template gives you the Penumbra setup and a small desktop tool for building it!
Bring your base, normal, and mask .tex files, choose where they should apply, and export a folder ready to import into Penumbra :D
This is a creator template. No .tex files are included.
What you can make :
- Multiple eye variants. Start with Option 1, Option 2, and Option 3, then add, rename, or remove variants in the tool.
- A shared eye texture set for broad use, with optional Standard and Emissive material choices in Penumbra. Both choices use the same textures; Emissive uses your extracted MTRL files.
- Separate textures for each gender and race/clan when per-race isolation is enabled. Each selection covers its applicable face types.
- An optional g_EmissiveColor value. Enter one value for all three channels or separate R,G,B values from 0 to 1. The tool does not set a color unless you ask it to.
Some races share vanilla eye texture paths. In shared mode, changing one of those paths can affect other races even when their checkbox is off.
Enable per-race isolation when you need the race/clan selections to work independently. That mode requires the toolβs "Make paths unique" step before your custom textures will load.
How to use :
1. Install Python 3.10 or newer, install the packages in requirements.txt, and open run.bat.
2. Choose shared textures or enable per-race isolation. If you want material redirects, extract the eye MTRL files from your own FFXIV installation using the tool. For per-race isolation, use Extract + make unique.
3. Select a variant and use Choose .tex to place its Base, Normal, and Mask textures. In per-race mode, select the gender and race/clan first.
4. Click Export Penumbra folder, name the folder, and import it into Penumbra.
I recommand using this along DVNO's Eye Devkit (
https://www.xivmodarchive.com/modid/112543) for a clean workflow.
The tools use Python and PyQt6. They read MTRL files directly from SQPACK, write inside the project folder, and do not require TexTools.
