For the purposes of this tutorial we will be trying to replace the Chocobo mount music "Eorzea de Chocobo" with FF8's "Mods de Chocobo."
First; we will need to find the file path of the track we want to replace. We can do this using the FFXIV Data Explorer.
With the FFXIV Data Explorer you can find Music contained in the "0c000.win32.dat0" file.
We can then search for the file path name of the chocobo mount music in the "music/ffxiv" folder.
The name of the bgm in the file is "bgm_ride_chocobo.scd" so the full path name would be "music/ffxiv/bgm_ride_chocobo.scd" (without the quotations.)
Now that we have the file path name we need to convert the replacement song into the .scd format. We can do this using the FFXIV Data Explorer as well.
Under the "Tools" tab click "Music Swapper." You should get a pop up warning but we won't be using the swapper itself to replace the music so just click "OK."
In the "Music Swap" tool there should be an option labeled "Ogg2Scd Converter" click on that.
The newly opened "OGG to SCD Converter" tool will allow us to convert an .ogg music file into an .scd file that the game will recognize.
You can convert your replacement song into the .ogg format here:
https://convertio.co/mp3-ogg/After selecting your MP3 file on the conversion site; make sure to click on the Cog Wheel icon next to the song name to open the conversion settings.
Change the following settings:
Quality: Highest
Audio Channels: Stereo (2.0)
Frequency: 44100 Hz
with these settings in place you are free to convert and download your OGG file.
Back to the "OGG to SCD Converter" tool.
select "Browse" to select your OGG file and change the following settings:
Number of Channels: 2
Sample Rate (hz): 44100
Click "Convert" and your .scd file will appear in the same location as the OGG file you converted.
*NOTE: I'm not sure if it's necessary or not but I tend to rename the converted .scd file into the name of the file I'm replacing.
Example: Renaming "Mods-de-Chocobo.ogg.scd" into "bgm_ride_chocobo.scd"
Next we move to FFXIV Textools.
Under the "Tools" tab select "Raw File Operations" and then "Import Raw File"
In the destination path; Copy and Paste the file path of the song to be replaced that we found earlier using the FFXIV Data Explorer.
In the case of this example that would be: "music/ffxiv/bgm_ride_chocobo.scd" (without the quotations.)
Your final step is to click "Import File" and select your newly converted .scd file.
If everything worked properly the Chocobo mount music will now be your replacement track!
